Finally, to round up my week of Class Pass I headed to the HIIT Girl studio in Highgate, featured in Women's Health, The Guardian, Top Sante, Cosmo, The Sunday Times... in fact it would probably be easier to name the places this fitness experience hasn't been mentioned in! HIIT Girl's aim is to empower and inspire busy women everywhere. All workouts are jam-packed into 30 minute sessions allowing anybody to squeeze in an amazing transformative workout in their every day hectic schedules. The studio hosts a whole bunch of fun workouts like 'Blender': a 30 minute workout incorporating all the latest fitness tools to get your heart racing, 'Drench': described as full-on cardio chaos, 'HIIT Girl and HIM': a couples workout and 'YogaBomb' : a mix of cardio and invigorating yoga moves...to name a few. But, the coolest thing about HIIT Girl, and what makes this revolution so unique to other gym studios, is that you can stream your favourite workouts from their HIIT Girl TV.
HIIT Girl is the ultimate girl studio; glamorous splashes of pink matched with black interior everywhere, from the walls to the equipment. Iconic women are stick in frames displayed around the room along side motivational quotes, like 'You are amazing.'
The trainer set up the stations: the 1st: quick steps on a trampoline holding a weighted ball, 2nd: rows with a weighted bag, 3rd: bike and 4: press ups using weighted ball. The timer appeared on the big screen (which was also pink!). We were teamed up in pairs at each station, working 30 seconds, resting for 30 seconds and then varying the move on the same equipment for another 3 goes before switching to the next. After completing the circuit we did another mini circuit which involved the dreaded burpie and back to the 1st circuit again ending with a mini abs circuit. By the finish of I was a hot mess. You think I would have learned the 1st time with Project Fit yet, when booking the class I booked two back to back as I was traveling quite a while to get there so wanted to make the most of it. HIIT Girl certainly proves that you can complete a killer workout in 30 minutes. No excuses!
I waited around for the second class, catching up on fluids and basking in the few minutes I had to sit down before the next workout. The second class was 'Balls.' Balls is class based all around using a Ugi ball (a special type medicine ball, with the squish of bean bag and the bounce of a basketball) to create a diverse hybrid workout combining strength, cardio and core work in one. This routine was in 40/20: 40 seconds work and 20 seconds rest.
Be warned: Don't be fooled by the squidgy, soft blue ball. For the first a minute it's like holding a regular ball (a little bit weighty), after 10 minutes it's like holding a socking wet ball; heavy with the added water weight...by the last 20, it feels like the weight of a cannon ball. When the alarms finally sung the end of the workout I was knackered and funnily enough, drenched. HIIT Girl was fun and puts back the variety in exercise. It works by training less in bite-size periods but still ensuring you achieve more. I thought I would find the class easy... I think the pretty pink masked the fact that their classes pack a serious punch.
Class Pass was such a fun experience. I met great people all like-minded and it really opened my eyes what else is out there; beyond the bar!
