For three reasons; One: Nut butters. Two: Nut butters. Three: Nut butters.
...and that's just besides the vast assortment of protein bars, protein treats and dessert goods... its like an online candy store for health fanatics; like a toy shop for a kid.
Like I said, they have an amazing collection of nut butters but recently, they released their own; in carrot cake flavour, apple cobbler, gingerbread and toasted coconut brownie. Tempting eh?
I went for carrot cake but I will be making my way through them all very shortly...
Other Ingredients: Almonds, Whey Protein (MILK), Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil, Pecans, Cashews, Muscovado Sugar, Cinnamon, Mixed Spice (Nutmeg, Ginger, Clove), Xylitol, Sea Salt
And it didn't disappoint! Other than the jar just not being big enough... It's low carb, only 36g of fat in a whole 100g and includes a touch of protein.
I can't wait to see what other branded products they bring out.
I had to make the most of having the tube of goodness so I attempted to make some low carb protein bars.
Recipe:
- 4 scoops of cake batter or vanilla protein powder
- 90g of of carrot cake nut butter
- 20g of cashew butter
- 10g of psyllium husks
- 10g of peanut flour
- 20g vita fibre
- 10g of flaxseed
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl with water, add small amounts until the consistency is doughy. Mould into bars and place in the freezer for at least 20 minutes. This made 4 big bars, but you can make 8 smaller bars or even protein balls. I topped mine with coyo yoghurt for extra punch and I highly recommend this!
2 big bars: Protein: 53g (depending on what protein you use - I used Dymatize cake batter), Fat: 33g, Carbs: 27g (approx 16g of fibre = roughly 11g net carbs for those watching their carb intake).
