I consider myself quite the nut butter connoisseur.
I remember going to my friend's home. We were both watching TV, our tummies rumbling with typical youth metabolism; probably after munching on kid fuel i.e chocolate, sweets and crisps bought from the corner shop near school and, knowing us, half an hour before tea. She offered me PB on toast. I'd never eaten peanut butter before, it just wasn't something my mum ever put on her shopping list. Now, crazy about bodybuilding and health and I am a self-confess PB addict. Not just PB though, all nut butters...
Lucky for me the nut butter market is booming!
Gone are the times of peanut butter laced with palm oil and sugar. Now, there are so many healthy varieties; ones containing nothing but nuts, and not just peanuts; macadamias, brazils, cashews, pecans... some infused with protein and superfoods like flax, and assembled by what can only be assumed as magical wizardry, boasting flavours like carrot cake, white chocolate, toffee, apple cobbler...
These enchanted little pots help me stay on track with my diet and are great to satisfy any sweet tooth. And, trust me, nut butter can go with anything and does go with everything.
My latest trial is Buff Bake Snickerdoodle Almond Butter and Cranberry Coconut Peanut Butter.
The verdict: Awesome.
They are full of flavour and have a really impressive ingredient list including: roasted nuts, coconut oil, coconut sugar, whey protein, flax seeds and chia. Offering 11g of protein in each delicious spoonful. The nut butters are sticky, smooth and crunchy all at the same time.
