This beautiful book was one of my Christmas presents and it's the first diary I have ever had.
It's by Lorna Jane and it's probably the most perfect little diary that any health nut could ever wish for. Amongst calendar pages are recipes, workouts, tips and motivational posters hidden within it's spine, revealing themselves each new day, week and month.
One of my issues has always been TIME! According to myself I NEVER have time. I never have time in a 24 hour day, a 168 hour week...a 744 hour month...or in the 8,760 hours in a year to read for an hour, write, clean, see my friends etc.etc.etc. I also have SO many goals this year, in fact, I had a lot last year too but with goals I always seem to come up short. Then it dawned on me, the problem is I never have a time frame - there it was again, my issue with time! One important component of a goal is time. What's the point of setting yourself a goal without a time frame? You need a time limit; an expiry date - otherwise you could be working towards that goal forever - and once you hit it, you set another. I just kept making goals and hoping that 'someday' I will be able to do it.
How to put 2014 in perspective and kick ass in 2015
On the first of January I filled the first few pages with:
WHAT I MADE HAPPEN IN 2014?
(Passed my degree, moved in with Mark, be able to do a chin up with no assistance...)
WHAT DIDN'T WORK IN 2014?
(Jobs and my finances)
HOW WILL I CHANGE IT THIS YEAR?
(Find a job I love/start my own business, save money and budget!)
MY TOP 3 MOST IMPORTANT GOALS:
( 1. See family and friends more, 2. get a job I love and 3. get a bum like Jen Setler)
THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME BECAUSE...
(Less stress, happiness, purpose and opportunities. More money = more days out...and more clothes...
Work is 60% of my time and want to make sure that I am spending that time doing something I care about...)
WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY?
(Mark, family, friends, training, music...)
I WILL SAY YES TO...
(Socialising more, traveling to new places...)
MY VISION FOR 2015
(For me and Mark to have our own business, get out of my overdraft and never, EVER, have another one again, get a pet, be able to pistol squat...)
IN 2015 I WANT TO FEEL...
Successful and stress free.
In summary this year I want a job I love (ideally my own business), I want to sort out my finances and I have an enormous list of exercises I want to execute and I am time framing them all!
Those include just some of my goals...
This year I am filling up my diary with my goals and getting organised.
I want to see my family and friends more so each week I am making sure I have a day free for a date with friends...
I am noting my days off to add in when I can write or read.. I want to try new things and go to new places... schedule certain days for food prep... this list goes on! But, by seeing your week laid out in front of you, you really can see how productive your being.. or in my case how unproductive I am and how much time I actually do have free! I am also adding pointers for things to do, for each morning; from finding a new song to learning a new word...
Tips and ideas for an awesome planner:
- You don't need to fork out on a fancy diary... buy a simple one and glue in extras such as a breakfast recipe idea? Maybe a short workout? Or even a cute creative task to do that day or a motivational quote. P.s you can find loads of cool printouts from Pinterest and make your own.
- Make a colour/picture code for to do notes for example blue: work related tasks, red: social events, green: birthdays...
-Add in your goals and time frame them into your diary
- Set specific days for specific tasks e.g Sunday = meal prep day
- Add in things to buy, things to read, outfit ideas, work hours, wages, events you're interested in... If you have to think about it - add it in!
- Fill it out before the start of a new week, in the morning of a new day or even in the evening before a new day - keep it on you and check it.
- Finally, make it yours. I've added a list of my new years resolutions in it, in fact I am probably going overboard on lists, from 'things to write about', 'songs to buy' and 'clothes to buy...' 'films to watch...'
So go get yourself diary and kick ass in 2015 with me.
