WILDFLOOD CAFE REVIEW
Saturday was my day off work. I haven't had a Saturday off in a while and was really excited - I'd almost forgotten what it was like to go out on a Saturday. The closest I've got to being outside on a Saturday recently is the window view of the car park at work. I knew it was going to be sunny and proposed two adventures to my boyfriend; the first, Plan A; going to Olympic Park's Beach East and maybe, just maybe, a little cheeky spot of shopping or, Plan B; go to Hyde Park, hire roller blades and go on a pedal boat. Both very active plans you might say.
I left for London earlier on in the day to go to a cooking class in Marylebone. Half way through the class I got a text from boyfriend saying he had pulled his hamstring... as you can imagine, I was pr-eee-ty vexed! Our perfect day ahead of us ruined as he was now unable to walk. Being the amazing boyfriend he is, he refused to stay at home knowing how enthusiastic I had been about our day out. The Olympic Park is a bit of a trek from the station which meant that was no longer an option. He could just piggy back me while I ride the roller blades, right? I have got a mean squat! And I totally have enough horse power in my legs to pedal a boat for the two of us. Hyde Park it is.
In the name of love he came and met me out. We spent the rest of the day in Hyde Park wondering around whilst he hobbled along. We didn't hire roller blades but we did go on a peddle boat. Turns out my legs didn't actually have enough force to peddle the boat along either... I know, what a mean gf! We finished our day at Wildfood Cafe; a place I have been wanting to go for a while now; my poor boyfriend dragged to a veggie restaurant instead of this amazing looking pizza place next door serving pizzas the size of me, no joke!
Wildfood Cafe is nestled in the cute and colourful culdesack of Neil's Yard. It's a pretty small cafe with loads of mixed seating wooden benches and an open kitchen. We ordered the 'Forgotten Ecstacy' smoothie while we decided on food; a mix of cacao, cacao butter, coconut milk, coconut cream, maple syrup, dates, maca and algarroba. It was delicious, like drinking melted chocolate and cream. We shared to save room for desserts. Obviously. We then ordered sweet potato chips with cashew aioli dip, unpasturised halloumi and the Wild Cult sandwich (cashew coconut mozzarella and coconut 'bacon' on their special focaccia bread) with a handful of crispy BBQ kale chips. After we shared a raw white chocolate tart with caramelised pecan brittle. The food was amazing and the venue/area is lively and lovely. It is a bit pricey though! But all these veggie health food places are!
Here's some snaps of our yummy food and awesome date :)
